Mail-In Reel Repair: Your Questions, Answered Honestly
We get the same questions every week. So instead of another sales pitch, here are the straight answers, no spin.
The coffee-grinder handle. Not even a little. We're a mail-in service — that's the whole model — and we have drop-off locations too. You need a cardboard box and a piece of tape. Lake Erie walleye guy, Pacific tuna guy, surf-casting striper guy on the Atlantic: same bench, same care, same results.
"What do you actually do to my reel?" We tear it down completely. Every part gets cleaned in our 4 Reel Cleaner® concentrate and inspected for wear. Every bearing is checked for noise and binding, worn or broken drag washers are replaced, then it's reassembled with the highest-quality lubrication available and inspected again before it heads home to you.
"Do you use cheap aftermarket parts?" Never. We only use factory parts from the original reel manufacturer. If a part has been discontinued or is unavailable, we'll offer an alternative if one exists — but we won't quietly drop in a knock-off.
"Do you handle electric / power-assisted reels?" Yes — and that's a big one. Electric reels add motors and wiring to everything that can already go wrong, and saltwater feasts on all of it. A reel that stutters on the retrieve usually isn't the battery. We service Daiwa, Shimano, Penn, Elec-Tra-Mate, Dolphin, and Bandx power-assisted reels right alongside the manual ones.
"What brands do you work on?" We're an authorized warranty, parts, and service center for Accurate, Penn, Abu, Fin-Nor, Quantum, Zebco, Okuma, Lew's, Pflueger, Shakespeare, Mitchell, Maxel, and Tsunami — plus Cannon downriggers. We also service and repair Daiwa, Shimano, Alutecnos, Avet, Canyon, Newell, and others. We've probably had your exact model on the bench before.

"I bought it under warranty. Does that help?" It does — warranty customers get priority service. Worth mentioning when you contact us.
"My reel still works fine. Why bother?" Because "fine" is exactly how a reel feels right up until it isn't — usually mid-fight, with a big one on. Salt corrodes from the inside where you can't see it. By the time you feel the grind, the damage has been happening for months. An annual service is the cheapest insurance in fishing.
"How long does it take?" A timely 5 business days on most popular reels — not counting parts availability and shipping time. If we need a part that isn't in stock, we'll notify you by email or text so you're never left guessing.
"How should I ship it?" Take the line off, drop the reel in a zip-top bag, pad the box well, and include a note telling us what it's doing — the grind, the stick, the noise — so we know where to look first.
"How do I start?" Glad you asked.
Box it up, or find a drop-off location near you. Head to 4ReelServices.net or call 1-561-509-9055, and we'll point you to the right address and walk you through the whole thing. That's it.
